I’m going to be rockin’ REVOLVER this Saturday night with my man DJ Ghostdad downtown at Goodlife. We’ve got a crazy headliner this week, Pase Rock! He’s a monster with a solid rep across the globe and backing from Dim Mak & Fully Fitted. If you aren’t familiar with us, we held down the Bicycle Film Festival party & boldsprints this past summer in Revolution Bicycle’s backyard. We’ll be bringing the same 1-2 punch Sunday night for Open’s Boldsprints at Middlesex. Peace – Brek. One
A shout-out to Zack for hooking up this flyer, good looks!

What’s gooood? I go by the name of BREK.ONE, you may know me as the DJ from the first Boldsprint event that OPEN held.
I would like to thank Zack and the rest of the OPEN fam for having me on here. I will try to keep you informed on my happenings, parties, and last but not least my Weekly Commute mix series that I’ll be posting once a week – if you missed the first one, get it here. The Weekly Commute is just a little something for y’all to vibe to while riding, nothing crazy serious, just a quick 20 minutes of whatever I’m feeling, ya dig? Expect to see some of my other turntable partners getting involved in the action.
Until next time… EASSSSYY!
BTW, I will be playing this Saturday night at the Good Life. This is my monthly night that I put on along with DJ Ghostdad. We try to provide a good experience by giving all kinds of shit away and bringing out guest DJs from around the US to play the night with us. We will be giving away free goods from FRANK151 as well as FADER Magazine… Check the flyer below for info and our special guests! Make sure you make it out early, last time was insane dudes (pics here).
Its not every day that musicians sample all of the little noises that come from a bicycle, so of course, we have to give Peloton Musique some credit for doing so!
Peloton’s trio – Aron, Shane & Eli – conceptualized this bicycle-themed project, Bicycles Are Your Friends, where other musicians produce remixes using a custom sample kit of spoke plucks, sprocket click-clacks, brake compressions and a host of other bicycle sounds. Listen to the track, Broken Spoke by Beat Conflicts, its a good mixture of bike inspired poetry, vocals and beats. You can download the sample kit here and submit your remixes to them through their site.
Brek. One’s first Open Bicycle installment of the Weekly Commute!
Every week, our very own Brek. One will be dropping a 15-20 minute mash-up, intended to make its way onto your iPod for your daily commute. Feel free to Email us with any special requests!
After snapping the fork on my Reminton jumping stairs the other day, I took the train home with my pal/artist/dj/heart-breaker Alfredo aka ManifestDestitute. We got to talking about the good old days of painting walls & running from the authorities and the transition that some have made to canvas work – which leads me to announce that we will be doing a little collaboration work for an upcoming show! More details later…for now, check out this video of Blu in Berlin – the concept and process of this wall is amazing:
Side Note : Our crew stopped by Alf’s art show at this local spot, LilyPad in Union Square Saturday night – props are due! His work is looking great and his music is killing it – so peep his blog.
