Freight Rolltop Backpack

Here is the newest bag from the good people over at Freight Baggage:  a vinyl-lined, fully waterproof roll-top backpack.  This bag has a couple nice features – compression straps along the sides and bottom of the bag and padded shoulder straps, which are reinforced at the bags base.  For simple day to day use, there are several pockets, chest/waist straps, a pen holder, carrying handle and a clip for your blinky light.  To keep things unique, you can choose custom colors for the Cordura, vinyl lining, trim details and stitching.  Check them out here!

Vans Syndicate “Morford” Fixed

The Vans Syndicate x Gabe Morford pack has just dropped at Concepts and HufSF

The collab is complied of two models, an Era and a Half Cab.  The materials used on the shoes were chosen to withstand the wear & tear of riding in cages every day.  The upper is a high quality suede, while the toebox is Benecke Ceraprene – commonly used for hiking and sailing shoes because of its extreme durability and water resistant qualities.  As most of you know, standard issue Eras tend to wear through along the top of the toebox and around the eyelets – hopefully these will not, but of course, only time will tell.  They also come with a nifty little U-Lock holster and are available locally at Concepts, the only Vans Syndicate dealer in Massachusetts.

Homegrown!

A bit back we had mentioned our friend Nao and his new creative enterprise, 3RRR.  Nao is a artistic genius with a whimsical angle, but he’s recently begun crafting a very utilitarian product:  chainrings.  Nao was cool enough to throw us a prototype for testing and review:

The 3RRR BR-46T (”Bring Ring”) comes only in 46T, perfect for gearing low for urban control and trick riding.  The ring is CNC’d from 5mm 7075-T6 plate, and features a milled out reverse side similar to Sugino’s Zen track ring.  The most interesting thing about the ring is the absolutely square tooth profile.   Upon first inspection, one may be sceptical of the non-beveled teeth, as all other existent rings tout their CAD-engineered shapes, but more on that later.  The ring has a bit of heft to it, 3RRR claims 120g, and has CNC’d graphics born from Nao’s fun-focused approach to riding.

I set the ring up on the Kiyo in style- new Izumi V chain, new Euro-Asia Superstar 17T cog.  Upon installation, one can see that the tooth profile affords an almost complete connection between the the ring and the chain bushing.  The ring is a bit noisy, but not in a worn or off-chainline way; rather the sound becomes a smooth hum at a good cadence and the ring feels stiff and powerful.

I’ve only had the setup running for a few days, but it is apparent that while perhaps not the best velodrome setup, the 3RRR Bring Ring is an amazing urban fixed component.   Given the amount of material in contact with the chain, i don’t think that one could ever wear this thing out.  MSRP looks to be around 70 bones- hit Nao up on his website to get your hands on one of the first-run models.

Tamika over at VIMBY just sent me this video of the Macaframa LA Premiere. Enjoy!

VIMBY – Macaframa LA Premiere

Ayyyye!

What’s gooood? I go by the name of BREK.ONE, you may know me as the DJ from the first Boldsprint event that OPEN held.

I would like to thank Zack and the rest of the OPEN fam for having me on here. I will try to keep you informed on my happenings, parties, and last but not least my Weekly Commute mix series that I’ll be posting once a week – if you missed the first one, get it here. The Weekly Commute is just a little something for y’all to vibe to while riding, nothing crazy serious, just a quick 20 minutes of whatever I’m feeling, ya dig? Expect to see some of my other turntable partners getting involved in the action.

Until next time… EASSSSYY!

BTW, I will be playing this Saturday night at the Good Life. This is my monthly night that I put on along with DJ Ghostdad. We try to provide a good experience by giving all kinds of shit away and bringing out guest DJs from around the US to play the night with us. We will be giving away free goods from FRANK151 as well as FADER Magazine… Check the flyer below for info and our special guests! Make sure you make it out early, last time was insane dudes (pics here).

Meet the Raven Feeders

The Raven Feeders are a group of guys out of Texas who are putting together some great footage – expect to see a full length feature sometime in the Spring. To match the killer name, they’ve got a pretty boss logo!

Track Bike Times Edit 2

When great riding and great music collide! Check out this second edit of Track Bike Times. The barspin-wheelie-ted shred skid-crossover-leg over combo at the 2:30 marker is as insane as it sounds. Check out the Track Bike Times website for the first video and more info.
