Jayde Grenade

This video is the latest in a series of five from a group of young lads out of California that call themselves Jayde Grenade. You can’t wipe the smiles off their faces! Bombing hills, skitching around town, crashing into poles or taking hard spills – they’re all about having a great time. The video’s they are putting out is a good reminder that above all else, I simply love to ride my bike.

Fixed In Paris Teaser #3

Fixed in Paris – #3 from Androsky Knauer on Vimeo.

Number 3 in the series of teasers put out by the crew over at Fixed In Paris. We should be seeing a lot more from them in the coming weeks.

Starf***ers Double Toe Cages!

Rumors may be just that, but I admit am super excited by these:

Ran into the pic of the white cages on hkfixed, but I believe this was first dropped on the very cool 84 Blog a few weeks back.  A durable plastic design would mean the end of bent and broken cages and hopefully a more comfortable interface.  Look for Starf***ers frames and products, including these cages when they become available, very soon as we fire up our online store!

Happy Holidays from OPEN!

So we’ve been slacking a bit on the posts these last few days, as you may have noticed. Santa brought us a new bike shop this year, and we’ve been busy playing with it.

OK, so were at the bar celebrating.  We also had a nice dinner at the house in Union Sq, (thanks Stebs for the stovetop skills) and Jim and Steve got crafty:

All in all, a nice holiday.  There was some hustling around town on the nearly-empty streets,

Christmas Day movies, good company, and the warmth of a close and concerned community.  Happy Holidays from all of us at Open Bicycle & thanks for all the support!

Cadence Wool Cap and Sace Pouch

I stumbled upon some goodies from Cadence at my friend Jeff’s house. This is my first time seeing anything from the Philly based company in person. Their unorthodox manufacturing techniques make for some really quality pieces, and due to their hand made nature, no two pieces are similar.

This is a pretty standard winter wool hat with very subtle details. The great thing about this is that you can wear it both as a roll-top and a regular beanie.

The Sace is a great small pouch. Constructed from a water resistant canvas oil-cloth shell, with a salvage wool lining, the bag features velcro flaps on the back side for quick bag or belt placement. This multifunctional pouch fits everything from your iPhone or Blackberry to a small camera or toolkit.
